An oil spill response exercise on the River Hamble at Swanwick is due to start today (Monday July 15).
Oil booms are due to be stretched across the river either side of the M27 motorway bridge as part of the three-yearly exercise organised by the River Hamble Harbour Authority.
Some booms will remain in place until Thursday 18th July.
The main channel will remain open at all times, but access may be slightly restricted by the booms which will be manned.
Some booms will be left in place overnight but will not be in a position which endangers navigation. They will be illuminated and a boat patrol will be on station throughout.
Public notices have been issued and can also be found on Hampshire County Council’s web pages here.
