Young children at a school in Titchfield Common donned police uniforms and were locked in a van cell as part of an educational lesson.

The four and five-year-olds at St John the Baptist Primary School asked many questions to two Police Community Support Officers who visited the site with a police van.

It was part of the Reception classes’ topic of ‘dressing up and looking at uniforms’.

The pupils enjoyed climbing in and out of the police van, being locked in the cell, having their fingerprints taken and dressing up in police uniform.

They asked lots of questions about the uniform, what the officers did with ‘naughty people’ and about the van.

Year R teacher Tricia Dawes, at the school in Abshot Road, said: “The children in Ducklings and Goslings were excited to see their visitors and thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in the uniforms the officers brought with them.

“They were also thrilled to be allowed to sit in the front of the police van and the rear section.”
