Four teenagers from the Western Wards glammed up in their prom dresses to star in a music video for their favourite up-and-coming band that has been backed by TV Dragon Duncan Bannatyne.
Olivia Clayton, 18, her twin sister Anna, and friends Sophie Kew and Grace Hebberb, both 17, were filmed as extras in boy band Reconnected’s debut music video.
The girls wore their prom outfits during a wet and windy day filming in Somerset and posed at the scene of a school prom where Reconnected sang One In A Million – about a girl who the boys believe is one in a million.
In the video Anna wore a short blue dress, while Olivia donned a red silky long dress.
Olivia, of Harvey Crescent in Warsash, said: “It was a really good day and a really good experience. We filmed it back in February but they have only just released it. We’ve all been really excited to watch the video.
“I’ve liked them since the beginning. I’ve been to their gigs and been in touch with them when I can, chatting after the shows or on Facebook.”
She laughed: “I can say when they start to get really big that I was in their first video.
“It was so much fun and I keep saying I wish I could go back to that day and wish we could do another video for them.”
Anna added: “I found it really cool and it was a really good day.”
The band was originally a fivesome called Connected that finished eighth in TV contest Britain’s Got Talent in 2010 and now feature brothers Harry and Max Mondryk and Matthew Fitzgerald as reformed band Reconnected.
The girls had the chance to star in the music video after messaging the band’s Facebook page urging people who wanted to star in the video and meet the band to get in touch.
Reconnected have signed to Bannatyne Music Ltd - partly owned by BBC Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne – who stars in the video himself selling the girls the ice cream.
Although the girls did not meet Mr Bannatyne, Olivia said she was glad the boy band was climbing the ladder in the industry and gigging across the UK.
“All three boys were really fun to be with,” she said. “They’re just teenage boys who like to have a laugh but they’re serious in what they do. They deserve to be where they are now.”
