A new £6m specialist dementia care home in Park Gate will be opening its doors on February 1.

Hamble Heights

Hamble Heights, a residential, specialist dementia and nursing care home in Botley Road, aims to develop first-class care for long-term and temporary needs.

The purpose-built centre will be able to home 60 residents, each with their own light spacious room and large en-suite wet-rooms. Set over three floors, residents will have access to state-of-the-art lounges, bistro, hairdressing salon and quiet library.

A number of rooms have private gardens, while there is a sensory communal landscaped garden and sun terrace for all residents.

Staff are developing and delivering stimulating activities, including specially designed programmes to aid the care of those suffering with dementia.

Once fully up and running Hamble Heights will have created 90 jobs - a mix of full and part time positions. Currently 31 vacancies have been filled.

A kitchen and dining room for residents

The centre has taken three years to develop and the team’s vision has always been to create a “home from home” for the residents.

General Manager, Moira Baxter, said: “Everything we do is centred on our people, and we are so proud of what we have built for our residents. We really want all our residents to feel at home from day one and they can all look forward to receiving the very best in care.

“Funding can be a major worry to residents and their families. We’re always happy to visit and explain how the private and State fees system works. It helps just to chat to someone in the know – going that extra mile gives all our residents and their families’ extra peace of mind.”
